Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I have no idea what I am doing at the moment, so please bear with me.

Last May I started writing poetry and stories to share, and have contributed to a number of published anthologies, so I thought it was probably time I bolstered my web presence. So here I am.

Thank you, Paula Readman, for encouraging me to start writing and submitting my work, and for hosting a local writing group. I have learnt so much in these past nine months.

Here are 3 things I learnt really early on:

1) Creative writing is nothing like writing letters, manuals and reports.

2) The grammar that served me well for over 40 years, was inadequate when it came to story writing.

3) There is such a thing as Flash Fiction.

Flash fiction is great fun to write and I am totally addicted. Drabbles are stories written in exactly 100 words, I have quite a few in various printed anthologies. You can see some on my Amazon Author's page.

Fresh air and free time

I had a lovely week end away at Ferry Meadows Caravan site, next to Nene Park, near Peterborough. There were lots of people and dogs enjoying the lovely weather and extensive grounds. My husband and I had several walks around different parts of the park while we were there. This is the largest of the lakes and took about an hour to walk around, stopping here and there to take photos and enjoy the scenery. We had intended to stop at the cafe at the marina for a cake and a cup of tea, but there was a long queue and it wasn't far back to the van, so we didn't bother. Apart from chilling out in our new caravan, I managed to get quite a bit of writing done, so I think I am now on track for all the projects I have on the go. Gill emailed me to let me know my story is scheduled for Cafelit on 14th March, so all in all it was a very good week end.

When Max met Max.

Another month has passed, for most of it I was in the Yorkshire Dales, staying in our caravan at Wharfedale Caravan site. We met this little fellow on our first walk - from West Burton to Aysgarth Falls. My friends call me Max, and it is not a common name, so when the dog's owner kept calling "Max! Max come here," it felt a little strange. We had overtaken him in a field and Max decided to keep pace with us until he got to the river. I guess he wanted extra time to bathe but felt safer keeping with us than running on alone. So apart from walks in the beautiful countryside, I also got some writing done and sold a story; but that is a bit hush hush at the moment, I don't think I am allowed to tell anyone yet. I also had plenty of time to think through the idea I have for my novel and actually start to plot it out. I have been struggling with the concept but I talked it through with hubby and he thought it had legs if I could pull it off. I am aiming for it to be a psych
